listening session

Księżyc: Księżyc (Penultimate Press, 2020, 39 minutes)

Wednesday 06.08 20:00

The album is presented by Ola Zielińska.

The album Księżyc (Polish for Moon) by the group of the same name was first released in 1996 as a kind of summary of the band’s activity, which one could refer to as “Slavic folk psychedelia.” After nearly two decades of inactivity, the album was remastered and re-released in 2013 by the Penultimate Press label, which was followed by the band’s reactivation. As the band describes: The spirit of Księżyc captures early and late medieval music with a sound rooted in the Slavic tradition combined with elements of minimalism and vocal experiments of the 20th Century.

Ola Zielińska is a sound artist, singer and performer. She works with ancestral songs, polyphony, breathing and grounding. Her current practice and research explore collective singing traditions from so-called Eastern Europe from the somatic perspective, focusing on the socio-political connections between sound, space and body memory.

We listen to the session together in silence.

The session begins on time.

Arriving a bit late? No worries, just come in quietly to preserve the listening atmosphere. We can’t wait to see you!

Please note: we do not take reservations.
