Desire is the Cure with Liz Rosenfeld

Wednesday 11.12 20:00

For the fifth session of our monthly series on poetry and sound, curator and co-host Pia Chakraverti-Wuerthwein meets Liz Rosenfeld for an exploration of desire and cruising. In their exchange, Liz will perform a work of autotheory inspired by decades of cruising as a form of fucking, politics, and artistic practice, and we will engage with poems from Marie Madeleine (1881-1944), whose lesbian erotica sold millions of copies until her books were banned and burned during the Third Reich, nearly causing her work to fall into oblivion.

Liz Rosenfeld is a Berlin based transdisciplinary artist who works with performance, moving images, drawing and experimental writing practices. Liz’s work deals with flesh as a non-binary collaborative material, specifically focussing on the potentiality of physical abundance and excess, edging questions regarding the responsibility and privilege of taking up space.

Pia Chakraverti-Würthwein is a curator and writer based in Berlin. She previously worked at Esther Schipper as an Artist Liaison, and before that was a freelance curator on projects with Fondazione Prada, Slavs and Tatars, and SAVVY Contemporary, among others.
