While Frank Zappa’s oeuvre is a series of disruptions of musical and other sorts, in this listening session Georg Jansen tries to make a common thread audible through some of Zappa’s important albums, with his second solo album, Hot Rats, as a focal point. Hot Rats was released in 1969, completely instrumental, and is known as one of the first jazz-rock albums.
